United Faculty handles concerns through a defined escalation path. Following it produces faster, more accurate responses and ensures your concern enters the union's formal record rather than circulating informally.
The path:
- Step 1 — Contact your Rep Council member first. Reps know your division, know what is currently in negotiations, and can route your concern to the right place. Find your campus and division rep on the Leadership & Reps page.
- Step 2 — Your Rep escalates as needed. For grievable matters, your Rep brings in your campus Grievance Rep — Kevin Sampson (Fullerton), Ruth Gutierrez (Cypress), or Jennifer Oo (NOCE). For policy-level questions, your Rep raises the matter with the Executive Board or in Rep Council.
- Step 3 — You receive a response. Reps and Grievance Reps close the loop. If the matter requires a formal grievance, the contractual 40-day filing window applies — see the Grievance Process article below.
Strong unions rely on structured communication and shared process. We encourage members to bring concerns through Rep Council for accurate and timely response. Personal emails to former leadership, social posts, and informal chat threads are not channels by which UF makes decisions or takes positions.
If you are unsure who your Rep is, or your division currently has a vacant seat, email CommunicationsChair@unitedfacultynocccd.org and we will connect you with the right contact.
Have a question or concern? Bring it through your Rep Council member — that is the formal channel for accurate, timely response. See Leadership & Reps for your campus and division contacts. Official UF updates are distributed only by email from UF role-based accounts and posted to UnitedFacultyNOCCCD.org.
